  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree, MBA, or PMP certification is preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive construction leadership experience, including significant time delivering mission-critical facilities, hyperscale data centers, or large-scale industrial, energy, or advanced manufacturing programs
  • Demonstrated accountability for a construction portfolio of $500M+ in annual capital spend, or for multiple concurrent campuses at gigawatt scale
  • Proven success leading a team of directors and senior managers across multiple geographies, including hiring and scaling a construction organization quickly
  • Deep owner-side or general contractor experience across the full delivery lifecycle: pre-construction, procurement, civil and vertical build, MEP installation, commissioning (L1–L5), integrated systems testing, and handover
  • Outstanding health and safety leadership record, with the ability to set culture across a large contractor workforce
  • Strong commercial and contractual acumen, including experience with GMP, lump sum, and cost-plus delivery models, and the confidence to arbitrate high-value change orders
  • Working knowledge of data center electrical and mechanical systems, and of how utility interconnection and energization drive capacity availability dates
  • Experience partnering with project controls, scheduling, and cost management functions and holding them to a high standard
  • Highly proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and Outlook)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with executive leadership, service providers, and community members
  • Thorough research and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment under significant time and capital pressure
  • Superior time management and multitasking skills with a strong sense of urgency
  • Passionate and confident individual with demonstrated organization, prioritization, and critical thinking skills
  • Willingness to be based within commutable distance of our West Texas operations and to travel regularly between the Texas and Oklahoma sites

Responsibilities

  • Capital Expenditure Ownership: Hold teams accountable for campus capex budgets, ensure compliance with financial controls and approval policies, and partner with Cost Management and Finance on forecasting, contingency, and capital efficiency.
  • Contractor & Trade Partner Strategy: Direct the selection, contracting, mobilization, and performance management of general contractors, EPCs, and major trade partners, and build long-term contractor relationships to secure capacity in a constrained market.
  • Schedule Performance: Partner with Data Center Scheduling to drive the integrated master schedule, protect critical path and energization dates, and lead recovery when milestones are at risk.
  • Quality & Constructability: Own construction quality standards and inspection regimes, and drive constructability and value engineering input into design with the Design & Engineering team.
  • Commissioning & Handover: Ensure seamless integration between construction, commissioning, and Operations, delivering facilities that transition to service without punch-list drag or reliability compromise.
  • Power & Interconnection Coordination: Work closely with the Energy and Interconnection teams to sequence utility works, substation delivery, and energization against the construction program.
  • Standards & Continuous Improvement: Institutionalize construction standards, playbooks, and lessons learned across campuses to drive repeatability, speed, and cost reduction as the portfolio scales.
  • Executive & Board Reporting: Report construction status, risk, and capital performance to the SVP – Data Center Delivery, executive leadership, and the Board, with clear escalation and decision recommendations.
  • Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Represent IREN with local authorities, permitting bodies, and the communities hosting our campuses, supporting local workforce development and maintaining our social license to operate.
