Vice President, Commercial Banker
Location: La Mesa, CA
About the role
As a Commercial Banker, you'll identify a target market for new business and develop a book of new business from those relationships. You'll negotiate, underwrite, and coordinate the closing of major and complex loans in compliance with the Bank’s lending policies. Additionally, you'll assist clients with deposit-related products and services, analyze client information to recommend appropriate solutions, and compile market research data to tailor products and services to the target market.
Responsibilities
- Engage in business development activities and solicit new business based on the target market.
- Collaborate with treasury partners to ensure seamless client experiences.
- Call and visit target customers to promote and sell Bank products and services, establishing a new book of business.
- Develop and maintain a customer database, including tracking calls and results for all new business relationships, and reporting to superiors as required.
- Interview prospective applicants, gather specified information related to loan or credit applications, and resolve questions regarding application details.
- Perform pre-qualification assessments and analyze financial conditions and risks within the Bank’s credit framework and current economic trends.
- Gather information to present financing requests to senior management or Loan Committee; meet with potential customers, negotiate loan terms, and recommend approvals.
- Coordinate processing of approved loans, ensuring compliance with agreements, customer needs, and Bank lending policies.
- Obtain necessary documentation from customers and resolve processing or servicing issues within your portfolio.
- Maintain a superior knowledge of financial industry trends and recommend improvements for underperforming products or services.
- Represent the Bank in community, civic, and reinvestment functions to enhance the Bank’s image and develop additional business opportunities.
Requirements
- 7+ years of related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management, and commercial banking products and services.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory, legal compliance obligations, industry standards, and practices.
- Advanced knowledge in all facets of relationship management.
- Advanced organizational and time management skills.
- Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
- May require up to 50% travel.
Pay
Salary range for new hires is $149,295.00 - $180,000.00 for La Mesa, CA. Salary is determined by specific job location. The role may also be eligible for annual bonus/incentives and restricted stock.
