Vice President, Clinical Research

About the role

As the Vice President, Clinical Research, you will establish and lead the Global Clinical Affairs function for Danaher Diagnostics (DHR Dx). This role provides strategic oversight of clinical evidence generation, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements across all DHR Diagnostics operating companies. You will drive innovation in clinical evidence strategies, foster cross-functional collaboration, and build high-performing global teams to support new product development and lifecycle sustainment. This position is fully remote and reports to the SVP, Regulatory & Global Clinical Affairs DHR Diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the performance and results of Danaher’s Clinical Center of Excellence, including Clinical Research and Clinical Study Management across all DHR Diagnostics operating companies.
• Provide strategic oversight of the Global Clinical Research team, translating global market needs and regulatory requirements into successful clinical evidence strategies.
• Develop and execute clinical study strategies to achieve key business objectives, differentiating Danaher products with evidence generation in an evolving competitive environment.
• Maintain current knowledge of innovative clinical evidence strategies to evaluate and resolve complex business challenges across a diverse product portfolio.
• Develop strategies for differentiated evidence solutions and peer-to-peer customer interactions to drive product uptake through clinical and technical communication.
• Establish collaborative relationships with leaders across Danaher operating companies to influence clinical operational strategy and ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
• Cultivate a positive work environment that reflects company values, promotes collaboration, and supports associate development.
• Assess clinical capabilities across the global team, implement competency frameworks, and lead talent acquisition to build high-performing teams.
• Drive talent management and engagement using Danaher business tools, fostering an inclusive environment that leverages diverse perspectives.
• Drive operational efficiencies and implement best practices across clinical operations to enhance productivity and quality outcomes.
• Oversee the development, design, and implementation of global clinical studies from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
• Manage the full lifecycle of clinical study programs, including protocol development, site selection, patient recruitment, and study execution across multiple therapeutic areas and geographic regions.
• Develop clinical evidence strategies to support novel diagnostic products, including those using machine learning and AI technology.
• Ensure clinical affairs systems are established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with applicable standards and worldwide regulatory requirements.
• Manage departmental budget and financial resources, ensuring optimal allocation and cost-effective operations across all clinical affairs activities.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Research, or a related field, or an M.D.
• Minimum of 10 years of industry or relevant experience successfully executing in vitro diagnostic studies.
• At least 7 years of supervisory experience.
• Directly related experience in Clinical Program planning and execution, including clinical strategy, regulatory affairs, assay/instrument principles, and compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated career success in achieving commercial release of products related to diagnostics, life sciences, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical development.
• Experience with novel diagnostics products, including machine learning and AI technology applications in clinical settings, is preferred.
• Proven success at a senior leadership level in a matrixed business structure, managing global teams across multiple operating companies.

Ability to travel globally up to 30%.

Pay

The annual salary range for this role is $250,000 - $375,000. This role is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
