Vice President, Business Group Lead Counsel

This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management, partnering with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen responsible execution, improve decision-making, and support sustainable growth within a Aerospace & Defense environment.

Location: Reston, VA - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available. Compensation: $300,000 – $340,000 annually.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on federal government contracts including compliance and closeout
• Conduct legal risk assessments for corporate bids and ongoing contracts
• Advise on legal negotiations including claims, disputes, and terminations
• Oversee negotiation of key contractual agreements such as NDAs and subcontracts
• Respond to government audits and coordinate legal strategy with outside counsel
• Support compliance initiatives and training for government contracting processes
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure legal adherence across projects

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in government contracts law, especially in defense or aerospace sectors
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Active membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction bar
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
• U.S. Citizenship required
