Senior Vice President, Counsel, Commercial Law Group
About the role
You’ll make an impact by structuring, drafting, and negotiating a broad range of vendor agreements, particularly market data and technology-related contracts. You’ll act as a key legal advisor on BNY’s market data strategy, collaborating with stakeholders across the business, Legal, and sourcing teams to support strategic direction. You’ll also partner with internal and external stakeholders to support governance, sourcing, and risk management activities in connection with market data procurement and other vendor relationships.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate and advise on market data agreements, technology, and other commercial arrangements.
- Support governance, sourcing, and risk management activities in connection with market data procurement and other vendor relationships.
- Keep up to date with developments in market data licensing practices, regulatory expectations, and industry trends, and assist with corresponding updates to documentation, processes, and approaches.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with a legal degree and 3-5 years of post-qualification experience, ideally gained at a leading law firm or financial institution.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating and advising on market data agreements, technology, and other commercial arrangements.
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in AI, automation, and advanced legal technology.
- Strong legal and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate complex contractual frameworks and commercial models.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations relevant to market data and third-party service arrangements in the financial services sector.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Commercially minded, pragmatic, and adaptable, with a solutions-orientated approach.
- Strong communicator and effective collaborator across teams and functions.
- Curious, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and development.
- Experience with contract lifecycle management tools is a plus.
