About the Opportunity

Our client is a rapidly growing engineering and technical services organization seeking a Vice President of Business Development to lead strategic revenue growth initiatives across energy, infrastructure, and related markets. This executive leadership role is ideal for a high-performing business development professional who has successfully sold engineering, technical consulting, or project-based services and has a strong understanding of complex engineering environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, expanding existing client relationships, and driving long-term growth strategies across key industry sectors.

The organization offers a highly competitive compensation package, significant growth opportunities, and executive-level visibility with senior leadership. Relocation to Richmond, Virginia is required. Relocation assistance is available.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new client opportunities within targeted markets.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with clients, engineering leaders, operations teams, and key decision makers.
  • Drive revenue growth through strategic account development and new market expansion.
  • Lead all phases of the sales process, including opportunity identification, qualification, proposal strategy, contract negotiations, and client onboarding.
  • Partner closely with engineering, operations, and project leadership teams to develop winning solutions for clients.
  • Establish and maintain a robust sales pipeline and accurate revenue forecasts.
  • Evaluate market trends, competitive intelligence, and industry developments to identify emerging opportunities.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, networking events, and client meetings.
  • Contribute to mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic growth initiatives where applicable.
  • Mentor and influence business development and operational teams to foster a growth-oriented culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related discipline required).
  • Minimum of 10+ years of business development, sales, or commercial leadership experience.
  • Proven experience selling engineering services, technical consulting services, EPC/EPCM services, capital projects, industrial services, or similar engineering-based solutions.
  • Demonstrated success generating significant revenue growth and managing large strategic accounts.
  • Experience developing relationships with executive stakeholders and technical decision makers.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience negotiating complex service agreements.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work in a growth-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to relocate to Richmond, Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced engineering degree.
  • Experience within energy, utilities, infrastructure, data centers, or related sectors.
  • Established network of industry contacts and decision makers.
  • Experience leading enterprise sales strategies and managing high-value pursuits.
  • Track record of scaling business development organizations and expanding into new markets.

Compensation

  • Base salary up to $300,000
