How You Will Make An Impact The Vice President, Business Development drives Halozyme’s Business Development efforts for the ENHANZE licensing franchise and our small and large volume auto-injectors. This is a key leadership role in the identification, evaluation, negotiation, and execution of new ENHANZE, ENHANZE plus High-Volume Auto-Injector (HVAI) and Small Volume Auto-Injector (SVAI) business. They will lead and support various other strategic projects related to Halozyme strategy and growth. The position reports to the Chief Business Officer In This Role, You’ll Have The Opportunity To Contribute to the development of the ENHANZE, HVAI and SVAI Business Development strategies to grow the drug delivery business while leading at times or supporting the CBO and members of the leadership team on tactical executionIdentify potential new ENHANZE collaborations through self and team directed opportunity analyses, business meetings and reading of new publications and dataDevelop and demonstrate a strong technical knowledge of ENHANZE and the Device platformsDevelop and execute plans to engage key stakeholders and decision-makers within the companies where potential opportunities exist, winning opportunities with communication of well thought through and compelling value propositions, supported by technical and commercial analysesCDA and MTA agreement negotiation efforts required to progress deal flowAdvance deal negotiations including development of draft Collaboration and Licensing Agreements including gaining internal alignment on proposed terms based on opportunity assessment, leading the negotiation, including tracking and resolving issues through discussion with internal stakeholders, and building agreement with external counterpartsDevelop deep knowledge of market landscapes and trends, major product developments, trial outcomes, and company activity in the relevant areas of interestRegularly update and strengthen the ENHANZE, HVAI and SVAI non-confidential and confidential partnering materials and be proficient in presenting this material to prospective partners and responding to questionsPerform financial and market modeling in Microsoft Excel, creating presentation slides to support strategy and business development decisionsManage and maintain business development activities including tracking, documentation, and status reportingLead or support other internal business development partnering and strategic projects as directed that may be outside the scope of ENHANZE/HVAI/SVAISupport various Business Development, Commercial and Corporate initiatives as neededInterface as needed with other functions including Commercial, Legal, R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Alliance Management and FinanceInterface with potential partners, potential deal sources, consultants, vendors, and others as neededOther duties as assigned To Succeed In This Role, You’ll Need Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a business, quantitative, or life sciences field; with 18 years of relevant experience (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)Minimum of 12 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech company or healthcare focused consulting rolePrevious business development experience, including experience with evaluation activities such as market assessments, financial modeling, business case development and contract generationCorporate accounts and direct selling experience a strong plusProven success in identifying new business opportunities and supporting execution of licensing agreements from start through closeStrong business, negotiation, organizational project management, analytical decision-making, and influence management skills are requiredStrategic and innovative thinkerQuick learner that adapts to new situations, embraces ambiguity and change, and thrives in a fast-paced settingKnowledge of pharmaceutical and biotech clinical development and regulatory processesKnowledge of medical device development and regulatory processes preferredAbility to effectively communicate and influence a broad variety of business leaders, both internally and externally and of varying levels from functional subject matter experts to senior leaders of companies is requiredAbility to prioritize tasks and manage several projects simultaneouslyMaster’s and/or PhD preferredDeep network of connections across major pharmaceutical and biotech companiesDeal sheet summarizing accomplishmentsKnowledge of software required: Box, Intralinks Data room systems, BioMed Tracker (or equivalent) In Return, We Offer You Full and comprehensive benefit program, including an Employee Stock Purchase Program and 401(k) matching.Opportunities to grow in a culture that prioritizes learning, development and progression through in-house programs and tuition reimbursement.A collaborative, innovative team that works as one to amplify your impact—on your career, the work you do and patients’ lives. Environmental Conditions Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, be at a desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer the telephone and type on a computer. The most likely base pay range for this position is $259,000 to $363,000 per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and particular business needs, will determine an individual’s exact level of compensation. Base salary is only one element of employee compensation at Halozyme. Total compensation could include bonuses, sales incentives, and equity awards.
