General Summary

This position reports to the College President and provides leadership and coordination of capital and facility projects across the college community. The position plans, directs, and oversees the operational and budgetary activities of the Facilities Services Department, and leads all capital and major facilities projects. Provides highly responsible and complex administrative services to advance the mission of the institution and foster collaboration with the Vice President and Chief Academic Officer and directors of facilities. The Vice President and Chief Facilities Officer will provide critical facilities insight, support, and leadership to effectively address short- and long-term facility priorities and emergencies.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive responsible management experience in different levels of facilities services, construction, college administration, or similar work environment.

Duties

  • Serves as Primary contact to the internal and external community for facilities management, capital and construction.
  • Plans, directs, oversees, and participates in the development of college-wide work plans to include all construction projects and facilities services operations.
  • Leads and works collaboratively with region presidents, project managers and directors of facilities to assess, plan and facilitate capital and facilities projects.
  • Makes sure work flow and work products, results, methods, and procedures are monitored.
  • Supervises and participates in the development and administration of facilities services and construction project budgets. Monitors and approves expenditures as necessary.
  • Develops, plans, and participates in the implementation of college-wide facilities and capital goals. Initiates and recommends actions to accomplish these objectives. Actively participates in strategic planning and goals setting activities pertaining to assigned area of responsibility.
  • Serves as “college agent” interfacing with and providing oversight to all third party vendors and contractors at the college.
  • Coordinates college-wide capital and big facilities projects with the region presidents, directors of centers, executive directors of administration, and outside agencies.
  • Serves as the primary representative for the college with state agencies.
  • Prepares and presents various facilities reports and other necessary correspondence to keep the college president updated on all capital and facilities matters.
  • Leads, supervises and guides in the development of RFPs, bids, contracts, and proposals for construction and facilities related services. Negotiates and administers contracts with outside vendors, architects, and others.
  • Reviews projects and contracts for compliance and takes appropriate actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Analyzes problems, troubleshoots and identifies alternative solutions, and implements recommendations to address college-wide facility matters in a timely and professional manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
