About the role

The Vice President, Accounting Operations - Shared Services provides strategic and operational leadership for Aramark's centralized accounting functions within Global Business Services (GBS), including Accounts Receivable, Cash and Banking, and Fixed Assets. The role supports multiple business units across the United States and Canada in a high-volume, large-dollar operating environment.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for all GBS Accounting processes, controls, and financial reporting produced by the GBS resources. This includes the Accounts Receivable, Cash & Banking, and Fixed Assets teams.
  • Own the accounting shared-services operating model, including governance, end-to-end process ownership, service delivery, organizational design, resource allocation, and performance management.
  • Maintain accountability for the accuracy, timeliness, quality, controls, and financial reporting produced by GBS accounting teams.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs, service-level agreements, operational dashboards, control measures, and customer-experience standards.
  • Lead the stabilization, standardization, and optimization of accounting processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve scalability, reduce costs, strengthen controls, and enhance service quality.
  • Build trusted relationships with executive leadership, business-unit finance leaders, Corporate Accounting, Treasury, Internal Audit, IT, HR, Payroll, and other enterprise partners.
  • Serve as the escalation point for significant service-delivery, accounting, control, or customer issues.
  • Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing organization.
  • Establish succession and leadership-development strategies that strengthen organizational capability and support future growth.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, customer service, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Communicate performance, risk, transformation progress, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Represent Accounting Shared Services in enterprise planning, investment, technology, and transformation decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible accounting, finance, or financial-operations experience.
  • Significant leadership experience within a large-scale shared services, global business services, or comparably complex enterprise accounting-operations environment is required.
  • Direct shared-services or global business services leadership experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading multiple accounting functions through a centralized service-delivery model or a comparably complex enterprise accounting-operations environment.
  • Proven experience leading diverse teams consisting of both salaried and hourly employees, with responsibility for performance, engagement, and operational results.
  • Proven experience developing and executing a shared-services strategy and operating model, or comparable experience establishing strategy, governance, and performance expectations for enterprise accounting operations.
  • Demonstrated success centralizing, transitioning, stabilizing, standardizing, or transforming accounting processes.
  • Strong knowledge of shared-services governance, end-to-end process ownership, service-level agreements, KPIs, customer-experience management, and operational-performance frameworks, or demonstrated ability to apply comparable governance and performance disciplines across complex accounting operations.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, accounting systems, and audit requirements.
  • Experience sponsoring finance-transformation, automation, ERP, or process-redesign initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executives and lead effectively in a complex, highly matrixed organization.
  • Excellent executive communication, presentation, relationship-management, negotiation, and change-leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, CMA, and/or MBA.
  • Experience in a global, publicly traded, multi-location, or highly decentralized organization.
  • Experience with Oracle Financials or Oracle Cloud ERP.
  • Experience leading third-party service-delivery operations.
  • Experience with SOX compliance and internal and external audit requirements.
  • Leverage in Lean, Six Sigma, or another process-improvement certification.
  • Experience developing, scaling, or significantly expanding a global business services organization.
