The Department of Medicine at Boston Medical Center and Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine is seeking a Vice Chair of Research, Clinical & Implementation Sciences to provide strategic leadership for its clinical, population health, and implementation science research portfolio. This leader will advance high-impact, patient-centered, and equity-driven research that improves care delivery, health outcomes, and health system performance—particularly for underserved populations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive growth in externally funded research through a diversified funding strategy
  • Strengthen infrastructure for clinical trials, data analytics, informatics, and implementation research
  • Recruit, mentor, and support a diverse pipeline of investigators
  • Develop career pathways for early-stage researchers
  • Co-lead a modern, equitable compensation strategy that incentivizes high-quality scholarship
  • Embed research within clinical operations
  • Promote real-world and community-engaged research
  • Ensure findings translate into measurable improvements in care and equity
  • Build highly successful teams
  • Represent the Department in institutional governance
  • Elevate the visibility and impact of its research nationally

Requirements

  • MD, PhD or equivalent
  • Associate or Full Professor Rank
  • Experience in Clinical and Implementation Sciences required

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and internal pay comparison. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Pay

$220,000.00 - $450,000.00
