VFR Travel Pilot

About the role

PHI Air Medical operates under CAMTS guidelines using BH407 aircraft with VFR/NVG capabilities (instrument rating required). This is a 24-hour operation with day/night rotation. If the successful applicant requires aircraft transition, a 1-year minimum service requirement applies per CBA. A relocation package is available, which includes a 2-year minimum service requirement if utilized. Off-duty housing is provided.

Successful applicants will participate in community outreach programs, adhere to PHI Air Medical policies, and perform duties such as assisting in the loading and unloading of patients and equipment (some lifting required). Pilots will perform line pilot duties in accordance with the General Operations Manual (GOM), support the Safety Management System, Destination Zero, and other company safety campaigns, and work with internal and external customers to provide safe, efficient, courteous, and reliable service.

Requirements

• Commercial and Instrument Helicopter Ratings
• First Class Medical certification
• 2,000 total flight hours
• 1,500 hours in helicopters
• 1,000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) in helicopters
• 500 hours in turbine helicopters
• 100 hours in unaided night operations OR 50 hours unaided and 100 hours Night Vision Goggles (NVG)
• Must meet and maintain the company’s flight personnel weight restriction policy (235 lbs or less)
• Strong communication and customer service skills (internal and external)
• Must pass pre-placement physical exam, including functional capacity exam (strength and flexibility assessment, ability to lift 100 pounds), drug screening, and background screen
• Interview and acceptance by customer/PHI management
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Pay

Competitive pay, shift bonuses, shift incentives, annual safety bonus, and annual employee bonus.

Schedule

Full-time support of the Jackson, MS base. Schedule follows a 7&7 rotation; the base changes schedules on a specific day of the week, and schedule changes may be required.
