Veterinary Zoo Companion Animal Specialist

About the role

The Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin is seeking a full-time board-certified or residency-trained Zoo Companion Animal Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Exclusive care for avian, reptile, small mammal, and other exotic species
• Serve through primary care service, referrals from local veterinarians, and coordination with the 24/7 Emergency Department
• Integrate with other departments including Surgery, Radiology, Ophthalmology, and Emergency to comprehensively serve patient needs

Requirements

• Board certification or completion of a residency program in Zoo Companion Animal Medicine
• Experience in treating avian, reptile, small mammal, and other exotic species
• Knowledge of zoo animal anatomy, physiology, and behavior
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
• Current license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of California
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong problem-solving abilities

Pay

$175,000 - $200,000 USD base pay

Schedule

Full-time position, 8-hour shifts, rotating weekends and holidays
