About the role

PEAK Veterinary Referral Center in Williston, VT is hiring a Veterinary Technician to join our Urgent Care team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Technician looking to build advanced clinical skills while providing high-quality patient care in a collaborative multi-specialty hospital environment.

Responsibilities

- Triage urgent care patients and perform initial assessments, including medical history collection and vital signs. - Communicate findings effectively with veterinarians to support case management. - Assist in developing treatment plans and reviewing recommendations with clients. - Perform diagnostic procedures including cytology, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, cystocentesis, urinary catheterization, laboratory testing, and radiography. - Monitor patients during sedation and assist with procedures including wound care, laceration repair support, porcupine quill removal, and urinary obstruction management. - Administer medications and outpatient treatments, including subcutaneous fluids. - Review discharge instructions and medications with clients to ensure continuity of care. - Provide compassionate client support during euthanasia appointments. - Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout treatment areas, kennels, and hospital spaces.

Requirements

- Veterinary Technician experience in general practice, urgent care, emergency, or specialty medicine preferred. - CVT, RVT, or LVT credentials are welcomed but not required. - Strong patient care, technical, and communication skills. - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced veterinary environment. - Team-oriented with a positive and collaborative attitude. - Passion for learning and professional growth. - Comfortable working with urgent and critical cases.

Qualifications

- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.

Skills

- Experience in a multi-specialty setting is a plus.

Pay

- $20-$34/hour, based on experience, skills assessment, and credentialing level.

Schedule

- Four 10-hour shifts per week. - Start times between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. - One weekend shift per week (Saturday or Sunday). - Includes 2-3 holidays annually.
