Veterinary Technician - Swing Shift

About the role

VCA Chatoak Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time Experienced Veterinary Technician to join their team in Granada Hills, CA. The position offers a salary range of $27 - $30 per hour, depending on experience and credentials. The shift differential applies on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays.

Responsibilities

• Create a positive, low-stress environment for clients and patients
• Support vet assistants and doctor teams
• Win the confidence of every pet parent
• Deliver an outstanding client experience
• Utilize physical examinations and patient assessment
• Anesthesia monitoring
• Surgical preparation and assisting
• Laboratory work
• Venipuncture, IV catheter placement, IV fluid therapy
• Catheter placement
• Patient recovery
• Compassionate care of hospitalized animals
• All aspects of patient care
• Animal handling and restraint
• IM, IV, SQ injections
• Dental cleanings/dental radiography
• Digital radiography
• Nursing care/hospitalization treatments
• Client communication

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

• Experience as a veterinary technician
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology
• Basic computer skills

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:

• A valid California Veterinary Technician license
• Current CPR certification
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring
• Knowledge of surgical procedures and equipment
• Ability to perform laboratory tests
• Good physical stamina and strength
