Veterinary Technician - Surgery
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our specialty surgery team. This position is ideal for a technician who enjoys anesthesia, complex surgical procedures, and delivering exceptional perioperative nursing care. You'll work alongside skilled surgeons and a highly trained support team while utilizing advanced technical skills in a fast-paced specialty environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgery, including pre-anesthetic assessments and surgical site preparation
- Induce, maintain, and monitor anesthesia for a variety of specialty procedures
- Manage advanced anesthesia protocols, including CRIs and mechanical ventilation when indicated
- Assist surgeons while maintaining strict sterile technique
- Maintain accurate anesthesia and medical records
- Educate clients during surgical admissions and discharges
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the specialty team to provide outstanding patient care
Requirements
Experienced Veterinary Technician (credentialed preferred but not required)
Strong anesthesia monitoring skills
Surgical nursing experience preferred
Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced specialty hospital
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Passion for patient advocacy and exceptional veterinary medicine
Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Current certification as a Veterinary Technician (VTS) preferred
Experience in a specialty or emergency setting
