Veterinary Technician – Surgery

Pieper Veterinary is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians for its Surgery Department at Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center in Middletown, CT. The position aligns with the hospital’s mission to enhance the health and happiness of both animals and people in the community.

Responsibilities

• Commitment to continuing education with in-house CE opportunities and mentorship support

• Comfortable with anesthesia, drug calculations, and anesthetic monitoring
• Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and restraint
• Additional skills such as CPR, EzyVet, and Smartflow are beneficial but not mandatory
• Desirable to have a VTS (Anesthesia and Analgesia) certification for additional compensation

Requirements

• Experience with common induction agents, anesthetic agents, and analgesia agents
• Ability to calculate CRIs and perform medical math
• Experience with ventilators
• Specialty anesthesia experience, particularly for emergent procedures
• Knowledge of ECG, capnograph interpretation, and appropriate responses
• Proficiency in using non-rebreather circuits and managing BP readings
• Strong time management skills and understanding of table times
• Aged 18 or older to apply

Pay

$24.00-$30.00/hour dependent upon experience

Schedule

This is a full-time schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9am-7pm. Holidays are required.
