Veterinary Technician Specialist, Anesthesia

Veterinary Technician Specialist in Anesthesia at Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital in Woburn, MA. Ideal for an experienced Veterinary Technician looking to practice advanced anesthesia, support complex specialty cases, and work alongside boarded anesthesiologists.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement anesthetic plans for specialty and critical care patients
• Prepare patients for anesthesia, induction, and intubation
• Monitor anesthesia during orthopedic, soft tissue, thoracic, neurologic, and ophthalmic procedures
• Perform advanced technical skills including: Venipuncture, Arterial catheter placement, Local blocks and epidurals
• Provide post-operative recovery monitoring and patient care
• Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and specialty teams across the hospital
• Support technician training and mentorship
• Participate in voluntary overnight anesthesia on-call rotation

Qualifications

• VTS (Anesthesia & Analgesia) required
• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT/LVT) required
• Previous veterinary anesthesia experience required
• Strong technical anesthesia monitoring and patient care skills
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty veterinary hospital environment
• Positive, collaborative, team-oriented mindset
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 12 hours per shift
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
