About the role
Pieper Veterinary is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join their growing Primary Care team in Essex, CT. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive, high-quality care to pets while supporting both patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, high-quality care to pets at every stage of their health journey.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure the best possible care for pets.
- Support clients with expertise, compassion, and dedication.
- Collaborate with team members and educate pet owners about their pets’ care and procedures.
- Perform various clinical tasks such as anesthesia and anesthetic monitoring, venipuncture, dental cleanings, drug calculations and protocols, surgery, and client education.
- Use CPR and EzyVet, if applicable.
Requirements
- At least 1 year or more of experience in a busy hospital, focusing on nursing care.
- Associates degree in Veterinary Technology is a plus.
- CVT license is a plus (additional compensation provided).
- Phlebotomy.
- Anesthesia knowledge.
- Knowledge of the use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques to provide care for patients requiring this.
- Knowledge of the instruments, materials, and standardized procedures used in the full variety of treatments to prepare and provide “tableside” assistance.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
- Must be 18 years or older to apply.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with CPR and EzyVet (optional).
Skills
- Technical skills across all aspects of general practice, including anesthesia and anesthetic monitoring, venipuncture, dental cleanings, drug calculations and protocols, surgery, and client education.

Pay
$21.00 - $30.00 an hour depending on experience.
Schedule
This is a full-time position: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday – 7:30am-6pm Rotating Saturday – 7:30am to 2pm.
