About the role

Pieper Veterinary is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join their growing Primary Care team in Essex, CT. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive, high-quality care to pets while supporting both patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, high-quality care to pets at every stage of their health journey.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure the best possible care for pets.
  • Support clients with expertise, compassion, and dedication.
  • Collaborate with team members and educate pet owners about their pets’ care and procedures.
  • Perform various clinical tasks such as anesthesia and anesthetic monitoring, venipuncture, dental cleanings, drug calculations and protocols, surgery, and client education.
  • Use CPR and EzyVet, if applicable.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year or more of experience in a busy hospital, focusing on nursing care.
  • Associates degree in Veterinary Technology is a plus.
  • CVT license is a plus (additional compensation provided).
  • Phlebotomy.
  • Anesthesia knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques to provide care for patients requiring this.
  • Knowledge of the instruments, materials, and standardized procedures used in the full variety of treatments to prepare and provide “tableside” assistance.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
  • Must be 18 years or older to apply.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with CPR and EzyVet (optional).

Skills

  • Technical skills across all aspects of general practice, including anesthesia and anesthetic monitoring, venipuncture, dental cleanings, drug calculations and protocols, surgery, and client education.

Pay

$21.00 - $30.00 an hour depending on experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time position: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday – 7:30am-6pm Rotating Saturday – 7:30am to 2pm.
