Veterinary Technician, Overnight Inpatient

About the role

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital is seeking Overnight Inpatient Technicians to join our dedicated team. The hospital offers a new, state-of-the-art facility with advanced diagnostics and specialized spaces designed to support exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a variety of daily tasks while collaborating with all departments.
• Assess patients and facilitate treatments under the direction of the supervising veterinarian.
• Communicate effectively with the supervising veterinarian and address patient concerns.
• Work with doctors, technicians, and assistants to perform diagnostics and execute treatment plans.
• Basic husbandry and care for domestic and exotic patients.
• Monitor patient status: vitals, mentation, pain score.
• Nursing procedures: phlebotomy, IVC/IVF therapy, cystocentesis, urinary catheter care, medication administration, restraint, in- and out-patient care, abdominocentesis/thoracocentesis/pericardiocentesis, oxygen cage operation, transfusion therapy, PICC line care, recumbent patient care, feeding and sampling line care.
• Triage, sedation/anesthesia monitoring, recognize CPA & initiate CPR.
• Knowledge of disease processes and disinfection protocols.
• Basic anatomy, physiology, pharmacology (Cubex use, common medications).
• Medical math, lab skills (basic bloodwork, lab submissions), radiograph positioning, medical terminology.
• Record keeping, equipment operation, stocking and cleaning, aftercare.
• Adherence to hospital policies.

Qualifications

• LVT, CVT, or RVT credential preferred.
• Three years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician in a veterinary hospital.
• Previous experience working in an emergency or specialty veterinary hospital preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency with computers, electronic medical records, and data entry.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency and critical care environment.
• Fluent English skills (speaking and reading) required.
• RECOVER CPR certification a plus.
• Experience managing critically ill and hospitalized patients preferred.

Schedule

Full Time- Wednesday – Saturday, 10:00pm – 8:00am
