Veterinary Technician - Overnight, Emergency
About the role
Description Central Maui Animal Clinic is looking to add a full-time Overnight Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician to their team! As an ER Veterinary Technician, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.
Responsibilities

- Facilitate outpatient treatments and perform laboratory tests
- Support services including admitting and discharging patients
- Provide advanced nursing care to hospitalized, high-acuity ICU patients
- Monitor critical patients, interpret BP, ECG, SpO₂, and EtCO₂, and recognize subtle clinical changes requiring intervention
- Manage CRI’s, multimodal drug infusions, and complex fluid therapy, with strong medical math skills
- Place and maintain NG tubes, perform long-term catheter care, and implement infection-control best practices
- Assist with advanced procedures and specialty surgeries
- Document accurately medical records, trend track, and ensure shift-to-shift case continuity
- Collaborate closely with veterinarians and multidisciplinary teams on evolving treatment plans
- Remain calm, focused, and professional in emotionally intense, high-stress ICU environments
Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years of clinical experience as a veterinary technician in an Emergency and/or Intensive Care setting
- ECC/CVT/LVT/RVT encouraged to apply
- Demonstrated experience providing advanced nursing care to hospitalized, high-acuity ICU patients
- Proven ability to continuously monitor critical patients, interpret BP, ECG, SpO₂, and EtCO₂, and recognize subtle clinical changes requiring intervention
- Hands-on experience managing CRI’s, multimodal drug infusions, and complex fluid therapy, with strong medical math skills
- Solid understanding of disease progression, treatment plans, and medication protocols for critically ill patients
- Experience with NG tube placement and maintenance, long-term catheter care, and infection-control best practices
- Experience assisting with advanced procedures and specialty surgeries
- Strong documentation skills, including accurate medical records, trend tracking, and shift-to-shift case continuity
- Able to collaborate closely with veterinarians and multidisciplinary teams on evolving treatment plans
- Able to remain calm, focused, and professional in emotionally intense, high-stress ICU environments

Compensation
Compensation: Negotiable based on credentials and experience, with an hourly pay range starting at $25–$27 /hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
