Job Responsibilities
- Aids the veterinarian during animal examinations, providing necessary restraint.
- Prepares and administers medications, vaccines, serums, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Performs routine dental cleanings under the supervision of the veterinarian.
- Administers anesthesia under the direction of the veterinarian and monitors animals' responses to adjust dosages.
- Obtains radiographs with proper positioning and techniques.
- Care for and monitor animals recovering from surgery.
- Performs laboratory tests on blood, urine, and feces to assist in diagnosing and treating animal health issues.
- Provides emergency first aid, including performing resuscitation or other life-saving procedures.
- Collects, prepares, and labels samples for laboratory testing, culture, or microscopic examination.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments, equipment, and materials.
- Ensures the correct equipment and instruments are provided to the veterinarian.
- Fills prescriptions accurately, measuring medications and labeling containers.
- Prepares animals for surgery, including shaving surgical areas and placing IV catheters.
- Maintains cleanliness of examination rooms and treatment areas.
- Collaborates with veterinarians to ensure proper care and efficient movement of animals through the system.
