Veterinary Technician – Neurology
About the role
Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our INCREDIBLE Neurology team!
Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- Aid in maximizing productivity and maintaining positive patient flow.
- Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.
- Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
- Maintain relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
- Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
- Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a neurology veterinary technician (CVT/LVT/RVT preferred).
- Available for on-call rotation (required).
- Self-motivated.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on client care.
- Strong technical skills.
- Experience in anesthesia and surgical assisting and post-operative care.
- Experience running diagnostic imaging (MRI/CT/Radiology).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution).
- Ethical (diplomatic, courteous, professional).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to observe the behavior and condition of animals.
- Comfortable with anesthetic patient monitoring of ASA I-III (preferred experience with ASA I-V).
- Familiarity with the use of ventilators (preferred).
- Familiar with common neurologic disease, neurologic surgery and post operative care.
- Able to obtain blood pressure, interpret basic ECG, Sp02, and ETC02 and integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors in early and appropriate intervention of patient care.
- Comfortable utilizing digital radiography machines to acquire images using proper technique and positioning.
- Comfortable utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment.
Qualifications
