About the role
The Veterinary Technician Intern Program is a rotating internship for graduate veterinary technicians. This program provides structured, post-graduate clinical training in a teaching hospital environment.
Responsibilities
- Patient care
- Anesthesia support
- Diagnostic procedures
- Record-keeping
- Client communication (under supervision)
Requirements
- Associate's Veterinary Technology degree conferred on or before the agreed upon start date
- Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology Program
- Certifications, registrations, and licenses: RVT, LVT, CVT are strongly encouraged but not required for new graduates
Qualifications
- Professional conduct including adherence to hospital policies, dress code, and continuing education participation
- Support and direction from a Veterinary Technician Mentor
- Evaluation on a quarterly basis by the internship committee
- Minimum proficiency in several categories including patient care, nursing skills, technical/procedural skills, anesthesia/sedation competency, efficiency/workflow management, communication skills, professionalism, reliability, teaching, and team contribution by the end of the program
Skills
- Proficiency in required hand-on skills

Pay
$20.00 hourly with eligibility for overtime pay and shift differential pay.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm with occasional on-call shifts, evenings, and weekends. Shift differential pay included for some shifts.
