About the role

Pieper Veterinary is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our collaborative and supportive team at Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center in Middletown, CT. As a VECCS Level I Facility, we aim to make the community happier and healthier through our commitment to excellence in veterinary care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients under the supervision of veterinarians.
  • Perform routine and specialized procedures such as restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and anesthesia.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure proper documentation of patient care.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in a busy hospital, focusing on nursing care.
  • A degree in Veterinary Technology is preferred, but not required.
  • A CVT license is preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of anesthesia and monitoring.
  • Phlebotomy skills.
  • Experience with scheduling, receiving, treating, ordering medical supplies, and requesting laboratory tests.
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques and treatment preparation.
  • Understanding of client needs assessment, service quality standards, and client satisfaction.
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older to apply.

Skills

  • Strong communication and multitasking skills.
  • Confidence with restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and anesthesia.
  • Knowledge of CPR, EzyVet, and SmartFlow.

Pay

$22.50-$30.00/hour dependent upon experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time position: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Friday - 6am-4pm OR Saturday, Sunday, and Monday - 6am-6pm. Holidays are required.
