What You’ll Do
- Educate clients and advocate for patient care while addressing questions and concerns with empathy
- Navigate financial conversations professionally and compassionately
- Document patient histories, treatments, and client communications accurately and succinctly
- Provide low-stress patient handling and restraint
- Assist veterinarians within the appropriate scope of practice
- Perform venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
- Collect and prepare patient samples and assist with routine diagnostics
- Administer medications and treatments as directed
- Calculate, fill, and log prescribed medications
- Document patient vitals and recognize changes in patient condition
- Induce, monitor, and maintain anesthesia and sedated procedures
- Assist with surgical and dental procedures based on experience and skill level
- Accurately position and restrain patients for radiology and ultrasound
- Discharge patients and clearly communicate veterinarian recommendations
- Maintain the safety and welfare of patients, clients, and team members
- Create a clean, welcoming, and positive hospital environment
What You’ll Bring
- Previous Veterinary Technician experience required; 3+ years preferred
- Veterinary technician licensure or equivalent experience welcomed
- Strong anesthesia skills and experience with anesthetic procedures highly desired
- Experience with dental procedures and dental radiography
- Knowledge of low-stress patient handling; Fear Free handling experience is a plus
- Strong venipuncture and IV catheter placement skills
- Knowledge of vaccines, nutrition, pharmacology, and preventative care
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Accountability, integrity, and a strong work ethic
- The ability to collaborate across the veterinary team
- Polished communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to perform and communicate effectively during high-stress situations
- Strong client education skills and the ability to build trust and rapport
- Experience with Cornerstone and/or IDEXX laboratory equipment is a plus, but not required
- Basic computer and typing skills
- Strong organizational skills
- The ability to reliably commute to the hospital
