Veterinary Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Medical Team at VCA Metzger Animal Hospital in State College, PA. Our facility offers advanced diagnostic tools, 24/7 care with an emergency doctor and technicians on-site, and is accredited with AAHA and certified as a Level III VECCS.

Responsibilities

• Create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for clients and patients
• Support Technician and Doctor teams
• Perform physical examinations and patient assessments
• Anesthesia monitoring
• Surgical preparation and assisting
• Dental procedures
• Radiology
• Laboratory work
• Venipuncture
• Catheter placement
• Pharmacy
• Patient recovery
• Compassionate care of hospitalized animals

Requirements

• Current CVT, RVT, or LVT certification
• Experience in a veterinary setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology
• Basic computer skills

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a veterinary technician program
• Current certification from a recognized organization

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18-$24 per hour based on experience, education, and credentials.
