About the role

Thrive Pet Healthcare is seeking a part-time Veterinary Technician to join our team in South Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge, LA.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Aid in surgeries and procedures in accordance with state regulations for credentialed veterinary technicians.
• Maintain patient status, collect samples for testing, place catheters, and communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns.
• Manage medical records using practice systems, gather client health histories, and maintain organized treatment areas.
• Apply safe restraining techniques, adhere to standard protocols, and keep treatment areas clean and sterile.
• Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Requirements

• Veterinary technician licensure preferred but not required.
• One to two years of clinical experience.
• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, squat, reach, stand, and walk throughout the day.
