Veterinary Technician

Veterinary Technician Responsibilities

• Triage patients and take their vitals, and acquire patient history and other information from clients.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures.
• Discuss treatment plans and estimates, and payment options with clients.
• Acquire cephalic, saphenous, and jugular blood samples.
• Insert IV catheters, and monitor anesthesia, ventilators, and fluid therapy.
• Process specimens in the in-house laboratory and submit specimens to outside laboratories.
• Enter patients' service charges into the computer database and keep accurate patient records.
• Explain patient instructions to clients and share educational materials.

Veterinary Technician Requirements

• 1+ year of work experience as a veterinary technician.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong affinity for animals.
• Outstanding people skills.
• Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
• Undeterred by being scratched and bitten by patients.
• Team player.
• Associate degree in veterinary technology from an accredited school. (Preferred, not required).
