Veterinary Technician/Assistant
Job Summary
The ideal Veterinary Technician is outgoing, enthusiastic, compassionate and not afraid to get dirty. You will use your communication skills, problem solving skills and be a passionate patient advocate. You will be responsible for excellent patient care, empathy, client education, and maintaining hospital cleanliness. You will need to be professional, trustworthy, punctual, and love smiling. Candidates must possess the ability to execute treatment orders as directed by a DVM (to include placing IV catheters, phlebotomy, injections, perioperative surgical nursing, etc.). This position can be full-time or part-time; scheduled days and hours may vary based on hospital need. Weekend work is on a rotational basis. This position requires standing for long periods of time and some heavy lifting may be involved.
Technician Duties
- Assisting the doctors in exam rooms and in surgery
- Routine patient care and medical record keeping
- Diagnostics sample collection, laboratory analysis, and diagnostic imaging
- Client communications, including reviewing treatment plans and cost estimates with clients
- Addressing the client’s concerns and patient’s needs
- Educating pet owners about preventative medicine, common illnesses, and testing
Qualifications
- Veterinary experience required
- Knowledge of animal care and handling
- Able to multi-task and remain organized in a busy environment
- AVImark software experience a plus!
