Key Responsibilities/Tasks
- Prepare the surgery suite and instruments at the start of your shift, ensuring readiness for scheduled surgeries throughout the day.
- Clean all areas between procedures and perform end-of-shift cleaning.
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, ensuring no instruments are left unclean at the end of the shift.
- Perform weekly and monthly maintenance on autoclaves.
- Clean and maintain patient areas, including cages and runs, ensuring no storage in runs.
- Wash and put away patient dishes using the kennel sink.
- Absorb and assist with animal restraint during examinations, radiographs, ultrasounds, and treatments as needed.
- Ensure hospital cleanliness throughout the day, including mopping floors and wiping down surfaces.
- Manage laundry and waste disposal, including emptying garbage cans and transporting waste to dumpsters.
- Stock and refill medical supplies, such as alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, chlorhexidine scrub, and ultrasound gel throughout the hospital.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper stocking of exam rooms and anesthetic machines.
Required Skills/Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of veterinary hospital operations and animal care preferred.
- Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred.
- Strong desire to learn and grow in the veterinary field preferred.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
