About the role
BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an Anesthesia Veterinary Technician. Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 / hour. This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
- Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
- Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
- Able to set up intravenous fluids.
- Administers subcutaneous fluids.
- Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
- Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
- Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
- Calculates all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc).
- Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
- Set up for MRI and CT procedures.
- Discharge and intake surgery patients to and from the hospital, including basic client education.
- Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
- Perform call backs and refill medications.
- Client education, gathering histories and communicating that to the clinician.
- Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
- Comfortable with IVC placement and venipuncture.
- Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
- Restrained patients during consults and during diagnostics.

- Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S.
- Not required future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.
