Veterinary Technician - Anesthesia
Sign-on bonus up to $10,000 for qualified candidates.
Pay
$23.20 - $43.70/hour. This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.
Competitive shift differentials:
- Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): $4.00
- Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): $4.00
- Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8a): $5.50

Responsibilities
- Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Monitor anesthesia, troubleshoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
- Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
- Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
- Understand normal vital parameters and alert doctor when abnormal.
- Set up intravenous fluids and CRI’s.
- Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
- Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
- Comfortable with medical math.
- Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery).
- Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
- Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
- Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
