Veterinary Surgery Liaison

About the role

VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center is seeking a Part Time Veterinary Surgery Liaison for its busy 24-hour emergency department in Norwalk, CT. The hospital values the full skill utilization of its veterinary assistants and offers a variety of specialty services including ER/ICU, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, and Cardiology.

Responsibilities

• Work in tandem with doctors to ensure clear communication between clients and doctors.
• Provide clients with clear expectations of their pet's treatment and maintain regular communication.
• Field and facilitate incoming calls for doctors and provide a point of contact for clients and referring veterinarians.
• Give clients progress reports, fill prescriptions, and assist with restraining pets during exams.
• Manage medical records, reports, provide estimates, and log correspondence with clients.

Requirements

• Experience in veterinary medicine.
• Positive attitude and motivation.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current certification as a Veterinary Technician preferred.
• Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.

Skills

• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

$22.00 - $25.00 per hour, dependent on skill set and experience.

Schedule

Part time, Fridays and Saturdays.
