Veterinary Receptionist - Swing

About the role

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking a compassionate, organized, and motivated Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. In this position, you are the first BluePearl Associate that the client sees. You will ensure that each client receives the care and attention that they need. You will need to be able to function calmly and compassionately in situations that can be very emotional and difficult for our clients.

Responsibilities

• Greet and make friendly eye contact every time our hospital entry door opens to offer the individual warm and professional acknowledgement.
• Always offer a friendly smile, strong eye contact and an approachable demeanor.
• Be a compassionate listener.
• Speak clearly, slowly, and calmly in person and on the telephone in a way that clients easily understand.
• Assess immediately upon arrival each client's rare need, as well as the pet's general condition.
• Determine whether an emergency arrival is a "stat" versus "standard" emergency.
• Respond to non-patient calls or visitors and connect them to the appropriate team member.
• Confirm all appointments in advance ensuring clients receive accurate information about preparing their pet for the appointment.
• Offer emotional support and resource materials to grieving clients in a compassionate and discreet manner.
• Serve as a liaison between clients and service agencies during handling of pet remains by ensuring a complete, accurate, and compassionate process.

Schedule

Sun-Tues 1pm-11pm, Wed 11pm-8am

Pay

$21.50 - $29.50 + competitive shift differentials. This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

Shift differentials

Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum:

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $8.00 Shift Differential
