Primary Responsibilities
- Performs the posting of daily transactions and hospital invoices.
- Collections on accounts, including past-due accounts.
- Ensures payment policy is followed and proper documents are obtained from clients.
- Completes end of day reporting and reconciliation of payments received.
- Accurately schedules appointments based on pet needs and required time allotments.
- Verifies all services requested by client.
- Maintains daily, weekly and monthly DVM schedule to optimize patient care.
- Greet clients with a smile and verify all information is correct.
- Maintain clinic flow by rooming clients quickly, communicating with medical staff and keeping track of waiting clients.
- Communicate with clients about current or upcoming visits and recommended services.
- Communicate pricing using estimate tools.
- Serve as a representative of the hospital, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, patients, and other staff members.
- Assist new team members in hospital policies.
- Perform other duties & projects as directed by management.
Requirements
- Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade.
- Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, (reception) duties, and telephone techniques.
- Demonstrate ability to perform clerical work with speed and accuracy, use a multiple-line telephone system, and handle cash and other forms of payment.
- Experience assembling patient records, obtaining relevant information from clients, and accurately entering a variety of information in patient records.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted without direct supervision.
- Show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- A commitment to outstanding client service.
- Ability to move about the facility frequently to perform duties.
- Ability to lift objects weighing 40 pounds without assistance and objects weighing more than 40 pounds with assistance.
- Stay on task and work energetically for the entire shift, sometimes exceeding 10 hours per day.
Preferred
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
- General computer skills.
- Ability to type 45+ words per minute.
- One or more years recent experience in a veterinary facility.
Compensation
Base hourly rate of $19.00 - $22.00 DOE
