About the role

Elm City Vet is seeking an experienced and motivated Veterinary Hospital Manager to lead our Primary Care team in New Haven, CT. As Hospital Manager, you will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, fostering a collaborative and positive culture, and empowering a dedicated team to deliver exceptional patient care and client service. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to the hospital team while ensuring they have the resources, support, and guidance needed to deliver the highest standard of veterinary care.

You will lead the full employee lifecycle, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, and team development. You will foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous learning by coaching employees, providing regular feedback, and creating individualized development plans that support both personal and professional growth. The Hospital Manager partners closely with fellow Hospital Managers across the region to share best practices, improve workflows, and drive operational efficiencies while maintaining exceptional standards of patient care and client satisfaction.

Reporting directly to the Area Director, you will collaborate to establish and achieve operational, financial, and strategic goals that support the continued success and growth of your hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall leadership and day-to-day operations of the hospital, ensuring exceptional patient care, outstanding client service, and a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to the hospital team.
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle: recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, and team development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous learning through coaching, feedback, and individualized development plans.
  • Partner with fellow Hospital Managers across the region to share best practices, improve workflows, and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with the Area Director to establish and achieve operational, financial, and strategic goals.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of leadership experience, preferably within a veterinary general practice setting.
  • 3+ years in a Customer Service role, preferably in veterinary general practice.
  • Certified Veterinary Practice Manager is desirable but not required.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Proven experience developing and growing teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Standard knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Must be flexible to meet the needs of the department.
  • Must be 18 years or older to apply.

Schedule

This is a full-time, salaried position. The hospital manager should expect to be on site 5 days per week between 40-45 hours.
