Veterinary Extern - General Practice
About the role
An externship experience at Randall Road Animal Hospital will provide students with hands-on clinical experience, working closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in various aspects of veterinary practice.
Responsibilities
- Gain experience in gathering patient histories
- Perform physical exams
- Create treatment plans
- Conduct diagnostics
- Provide dental services
- Assist or perform surgical procedures
- Manage medical cases
- Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients
Requirements
Eligible for veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education. Must be in good academic standing and have completed prerequisite courses. Housing may be available in some instances.
Qualifications
Students must have a strong interest in veterinary medicine and be committed to providing high-quality care to animals and their owners. Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred but not required.
Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, attention to detail, and a passion for animal care.
