Veterinary Extern - General Practice

About the role

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will provide students with unique opportunities to understand daily operations and gain hands-on clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the supervising veterinarian
• Gather patient histories
• Perform physical exams
• Create treatment plans
• Diagnose and perform diagnostics
• Provide dental services
• Assist or perform surgical procedures
• Manage medical care for patients
• Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients

Requirements

Veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate. Students in the clinical portion of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend of $1,500.
