Veterinary Extern - Equine

About the role

An externship experience at an NVA Equine hospital will give students the opportunity to gain great practical experience in an independent equine practice and understand the daily operations of an equine hospital.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside veterinarians and interns to gain experience with lameness diagnosis and treatment
• Gain experience with client communication skills
• Gain experience with reproductive care
• Gain experience with surgery
• Gain experience with emergency medicine
• Gain experience with imaging
• Gain experience with ambulatory care
• Gain experience with dentistry
• Gain experience with preventive medicine
• Auxiliary assistance with out-patient and hospitalized cases during business hours and after-hours emergencies

Requirements

Externships are available for current veterinary students regardless of class year, though preference may be given to fourth-year students.
