About the role

Our Exam Room Assistants are at the heart of that mission — a reassuring voice, a steady hand, and a continuous point of communication helping families through stressful moments.
Responsibilities
- Meet clients at the door, calm their nerves, and help them check in quickly.
- Work with the medical team to begin care, and keep the family updated, answering their questions and reassuring them that their pet is in good hands.
- Help decide on the best treatment plan for patients under the general supervision of a Veterinarian.
- Have a working knowledge of the receptionist position, competence with Avimark and Microsoft Word, and provide an exceptional customer service experience by treating each client and patient with the utmost compassion and respect.
- Be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises, and be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases.
Qualifications
- Veterinary experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ensure all actions and interactions are consistently aligned with UPC Core Values and “Behaviors in Action” (See Employee Handbook).
- Manage time and tasks appropriately and remain flexible with assigned duties.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Able to abide by all safety policies and foster a safe working environment.
- Able to abide by all company policies and procedures and adapt to changes in those policies and procedures as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good attendance.
- Make decisions confidently and effectively.
- Attend monthly staff meetings.
- Able to work energetically for an entire shift sometimes exceeding 9-10 hours per day (Shift does not end until all duties are completed).
