About the role

The BluePearl Pet Hospital in Olympia, WA is seeking a full-time ER Service Head. The annual salary range for this position is $180,000 to $250,000, with an annual stipend of up to $15,000 and potentially a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. Additional ancillary benefits include shift differentials, weekend differentials, and a regional licensed social worker offering mental health support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the schedule for all ER Clinicians, including PTO requests.
  • Facilitate regular ER Clinician meetings and participate in hospital leadership meetings.
  • Mentor ER Clinicians and new ER/ICU support staff.
  • Oversee ER Clinician case management and provide guidance on case management decisions.
  • Integrate emergency and specialty services to manage all hospitalized cases.
  • Act as the sounding board between ER Clinicians and Specialty Clinicians, discussing concerns with the Medical Director.
  • Aid in implementing and monitoring patient safety reporting related to the emergency department.
  • Contribute to recruiting new Emergency Clinicians.
  • Ensure new hires have a mentor and support their retention and engagement.
  • Assist with customer service issues and help management resolve them.
  • Partner with hospital leadership to identify and implement new initiatives for improving ER patient care, medical protocols, and client service levels.
  • Stay informed about hospital issues and collaborate with the Medical Director and P&O on ER/ICU personnel matters.
  • Assist in performance reviews and address management team concerns.
  • Support capital purchases for ICU/ER department.

Requirements

The ideal candidate must have a DVM from an accredited university, have completed an internship, and have at least three years of ER experience. Previous leadership experience is preferred.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess excellent communication skills, strong leadership abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Skills

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential. Proficiency in veterinary medicine and a commitment to ongoing professional development are also required.
