Veterinary Criticalist
About the role
The Heart of Texas Veterinary Specialty Center is seeking a Veterinary Criticalist to join their dynamic team. Located in Austin, Texas, this AAHA-accredited, Fear Free certified, full-service hospital offers 24/7 emergency and critical care services.
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced critical care services, including monitoring, stabilization, and management of critically ill patients.
- Collaborate with other veterinarians and support staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to stay current with the latest veterinary practices.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of veterinary technicians and students.
- Contribute to the clinical research committee and doctor mentorship committee to enhance the overall quality of care.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree.
- A State Veterinary Board License and must be in good standing for the intended state of employment before starting.
- Active DEA license or eligibility for DEA licensure.
- Board Certification in Veterinary Critical Care or completion of a residency program in critical care.
Qualifications
Experience in critical care and a strong commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to pets are essential. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are also required.

Compensation is based on experience and qualifications, with a progressive compensation model that includes competitive base salaries and additional production opportunities.
