About the role
The Clinical Staff Manager (CSM) oversees a diverse team of support staff, ensuring they provide excellent patient care and embody the VEG way. They lead recruitment, onboarding, and professional development, fostering a culture of inclusivity and equitable treatment.
Responsibilities
- Recruitment: Interview, hire, and train new VEG Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants.
- Onboarding: Lead the onboarding experience for new support staff team members.
- Leadership and Development: Oversee the support staff team, engage with all shifts, and foster a learning culture.
- Interpersonal Conflicts: Address conflicts in the moment, ensuring they do not affect workflow or patient care.
- Liaison: Liaise with leadership to bridge gaps and unify team members.
- Process Improvement: Lead the team of Shift Leads to identify process improvements and present solutions.
- People Empowerment: Promote a culture of inclusivity and equitable treatment, manage employee relations, and address performance issues.
- Customer Experience: Partner with hospital leadership on workflow, the Spikes, and the VEG Triage, addressing customer concerns.
- Product: Ensure efficient workflow and best utilization of support staff team.
- Performance Management: Manage performance, succession planning, and accountability.
- Support the Hospital: Address staffing payroll and compensation decisions, develop growth plans, and ensure financial investment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in clinical veterinary technician role.
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership role.
- Enrolled in a Credentialing Support Program (CSP) and able to become a Credentialed Veterinary Technician within one year of employment.
- Willingness to work 5 days per week, including weekends and holidays.
- Flexibility to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors.
- Curiosity to continuously learn and grow skills and knowledge.
