Veterinary Assistant - Surgery

About the role

CARE Veterinary Center is looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community in Frederick, MD.

Responsibilities

• Supports surgical and anesthesia teams by assisting veterinary technicians and DVMs throughout procedures, recovery, and daily surgical operations.
• Prepares and positions patients.
• Maintains anesthesia and hospitalized patients.
• Delivers attentive pre- and post-operative care.
• Helps maintain surgical equipment, instrument sterility, and a clean, well-organized surgery suite.
• Supports essential tasks that keep surgical services running smoothly.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience as a veterinary assistant.
• Superior/advanced organizational skills.
• Possesses a positive work attitude.
• Self-motivated.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Current CPR certification.

Pay

The actual compensation will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. An expected starting range is $18 – $20 / hour.
