Veterinary Assistant - Surgery

About the role

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Framingham, MA is hiring for an exceptional Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery team!

Responsibilities

• Assist with surgical consults
• Clean and sterilize surgical equipment
• Help with pre and post-operative care of surgical patients
• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values
• Utilize ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein
• Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort
• Able to set up intravenous fluids
• Able to administer subcutaneous fluids
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors
• Able to disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically
• Able to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload

Requirements

• $21.25 - $31.40 / hour
• Competitive Shift Differential Pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends

Pay

• $21.25 - $31.40 / hour
• Dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool

Schedule

• 4x10 hour weekday shifts
• Occasional on-call expectations
