Veterinary Assistant per diem

VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is a 24/7 hybrid specialty hospital located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of upstate NY.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our general practice team per diem. In this position, you will support both our doctors and staff within the general practice team while also spending time in our client service area to enhance the client experience. Your role will focus on creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

Responsibilities

• Greeting clients and completing patient assessments
• Maintaining medical records
• Checking in and checking out clients
• Preparing treatment plans and discussing them with owners
• Filling prescriptions
• Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging
• Providing compassionate care for hospitalized pets
• Supporting medical procedures
• Handling medical records and billing
• Scanning and uploading documents

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with a passion for veterinary medicine and compassion for pets and people. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse caseload, advanced imaging and monitoring tools, and tap into the expertise of over 4,500 doctors, including 600+ boarded specialists.

Schedule

Full-time position with a weekend rotation required.
