Veterinary Assistant

About the role

Our hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to help provide outstanding patient care and client service in a fast-paced, multi-doctor animal hospital. The Veterinary Assistant is responsible for assisting Veterinarians in the care of animals.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during initial examinations by restraining animals when necessary
• Stock examination and surgery rooms with supplies
• Sterilize tools and ensure equipment is in working order
• Communicate with clients (pet owners) and update patient files

Requirements

• Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, healthy and positive communication skills, and the ability to multi‑task
• Willing to work flexible hours and some weekends
• Regular on‑site presence required; in‑person attendance necessary to support patient care, respond to time‑sensitive needs, collaborate with clinical teams, and maintain safety and well‑being of patients, clients, and staff

• Ability to work individually and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills, a sense of urgency, and ability to work harmoniously with teammates
• Prior experience preferred

Skills

• Prior customer service experience
• Ability to lift 40 lbs.
