Veterinary Assistant

Brickyard Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.

Responsibilities
- Taking an active role in supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
- Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care
- Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
- Monitoring anesthesia and supporting patient recovery as directed by the veterinary team
- Performing dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
- Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
- Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
Requirements
- 3+ years of veterinary assistant or related role preferred
- Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
- Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
- Experience assisting with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
- Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
- Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols
- Careful, professional communication with clients and team members
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of veterinary assistant or related role
- Proven experience in safe animal handling and restraint
- Knowledgeable in basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
- Experience with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
- Experience with patient history collection and vital sign measurement
- Able to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
- Excellent attention to detail and protocol adherence
- Effective communication skills with clients and team members
- Team-oriented and dedicated to exceptional patient care

Pay and Schedule
- Compensation: $20 - $24 per hour, for each hour worked
- Schedule: Full-time or part-time position, with a flexible schedule and availability needed Monday-Friday
