Veterinary Assistant - Internal Medicine
About the role
Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant in San Antonio, TX, who will work Monday–Thursday from 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with potential for extended hours.
Job Requirements
- At least 3 years recent experience in veterinary practice
- Ability to perform routine veterinary medical procedures
- Patient care experience required
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, preferably in internal medicine
- Able to appropriately handle animals
- Able to assist in veterinary medical procedures
- Recent experience in a veterinary practice
- Able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
Role Responsibilities
- Provide veterinary patient care, client communication, patient intake, and discharge support
- Aid with anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, catheter placement, sample collection, and patient recovery
- Support internal medicine procedures, diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, medical math, and treatment plans
- Maintain accurate medical records and support a fast-paced specialty team with calm, efficient patient care
