Veterinary Assistant
Alexandria Veterinary Clinic is seeking an outgoing veterinary assistant who thrives in client engagement, schedule coordination, and multitasking. In this position, you will play a critical role in supporting efficient hospital operations, creating positive client experiences, and ensuring patients receive compassionate, high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Supporting efficient exam room and outpatient workflow to ensure exceptional patient and client care
- Maintaining accurate, thorough medical records and treatment documentation
- Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
- Supporting veterinarians during outpatient procedures and treatments while providing high-quality patient care
- Building positive relationships with clients through education, communication, and attentive service
Requirements
- 1+ years of veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel, or related role preferred
- Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
- Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
- Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
- Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
- Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic

Pay
$16–$18 per hour
Schedule
Full-time position with a 5-8s schedule, availability needed Monday–Friday with rotating Saturdays. Part-time scheduling also available.
